Old School

Pastor Ryan over at This Is REVERB is going Old School this weekend and I decided to join in the fun. The challenge was to post pictures of some Old School stuff you have around the house. For me that's a struggle. Being the traveling MK that I am, there's not too many things that are kept around for nostalgia's sake. That said, this is most of the content from my one "special" box.

These dolls are over ten years old now, and have been well loved. The far set, is a gift from my 9th Birthday, from another traveling MK from Russia. Three of the dolls have chips in thier paint right on the face, which is sad, but I still love those dolls. The front set is also a gift from my 9th birthday. My big sister went on her first mission trip to Hungary and she happened to be gone for my birthday, so she brought me a gift from Budapest to make up for it. They too have been well loved and the largest doll has teeth marks from when I left them out and my Dog, Coal had a bit of a chomp on them.

This is my one and only Precious Moments figurine. My parents got this for me... for one of the Christmas's. I think I was 8 or 9. I have always loved Precious Moments and they wanted to get me something special.

After that gift, a pattern was started and I started collecting that particular figurine. I found this blanket fabric while shopping for blankets makings for my friends new baby.

It came with these... Again, more of the same picture (on the left). My mom agreed to get them for me, helped me finish making them and we set them aside for my first baby someday.

This is the top to the first outfit I made. My mom grew up sewing and she taught all of us girls when we were little. I think I was 9 almost 10 when I finished this one. I had LOTS of help.

This photo and frame is the oldest thing I still carry with me. The little one is me, believe it or not. It was a gift from Rommy, the same girl that got me into Precious Moments (also the one whose babies I was making the blankets for). I was her flower girl when I five. I've carried this  photo with me ever since.

And thus concludes my "Old School" Exhibit! Hope you enjoyed it!

Wow, it's amazing how so many random objects and what-not can mean so much to different people for different reasons. Very cool dude.
